G.A. GREBENSHCHIKOVA – The eve of the Great Liberation War
Аннотация. В 2017—2018 гг. военно-историческая общественность отмечает 140 лет Русско-турецкой войны, которая вошла в анналы дореволюционной истории под названием Великой Освободительной войны. Уже по горячим следам событий эта война находила отражение во всех российских изданиях — в газетах, дневниках и сводках военных корреспондентов с мест боёв, а после её завершения — в публикациях документов в многотомном «Описании Русско-турецкой войны 1877—1878 годов». Это издание выходило в Петербурге в течение одиннадцати лет, с 1901 по 1912 год. Оперативную информацию с морского театра военных действий публиковали журнал «Морской сборник» и газета «Николаевский вестник», подробно освещавшие действия моряков Черноморского флота против превосходивших сил противника у Дунайских гирл (в частности, у Сулинского) и у восточного побережья Чёрного моря. «Морские сборники» вобрали в себя и неоценимые по значимости сведения о боевом применении пароходов Русского Общества Пароходства и Торговли (РОПиТ) против сильного броненосного флота Турции вблизи рейдов и в операциях против берега. В данной статье предпринимается попытка на основе архивных документов важного военно-политического и технического значения раскрыть малоизвестные события, предшествовавшие той войне.

Summary. In 2017-2018 years, the military historical community celebrates 140 years of the Russian-Turkish War, which entered the annals of pre-revolutionary history under the name of the Great Liberation War. Already in the hot pursuit of events, this war was reflected in all Russian publications — in newspapers, diaries and summaries of military correspondents from the battlefields, and after its completion – in the publication of documents in the multivolume ‘Description of the Russian-Turkish War of 1877-1878’. This publication was being released in St. Petersburg for eleven years, from 1901 to 1912. Operational information from the naval theatre of military operations was published by the magazine ‘MorskoySbornik’ and the newspaper ‘NikolayevskyVestnik’, detailing the actions of seamen of the Black Sea Fleet against superior enemy forces from the Danube Lines (in particular, at Sulinsky) and off the eastern coast of the Black Sea. The ‘MorskoySbornik’ absorbed also invaluable information on the combat use of steamers of the Russian Society of Shipping and Trade against the strong armoured fleet of Turkey near roadsteads and in operations against the shore. This article attempts to disclose, on the basis of archival documents of important military-political and technical significance, the little-known events that preceded that war.

S.I. BUYLO — The Secret of the «atomic notebook»
Аннотация. Темой статьи стали события, связанные с ростовским периодом деятельности легендарного советского военного разведчика и диверсанта полковника Ильи Григорьевича Старинова (1900—2000 гг.). В частности, приводятся факты организации И.Г. Стариновым в военное время производства специальных минно-взрывных устройств экспериментальными мастерскими Ростовского государственного (ныне Южного федерального) университета. Описаны версии появления трофейной «атомной тетради», ставшей «спусковым крючком» к созданию атомного оружия в СССР. Впервые представлен документ — полный текст письма И.Г. Старинова по факту появления «атомной тетради».

Summary. The topical themes of the article are the events connected with the Rostov period of the activities of the legendary Soviet military intelligence officer and saboteur Colonel IlyaStarinov (1900-2000). In particular, the author gives the facts of organising production of special mine explosive devices by experimental workshops of the Rostov State (now Southern Federal) University by I.G. Starinov during wartime. The versions of the appearance of the trophy «atomic notebook», which became a «trigger hook» to the creation of atomic weapons in the USSR, are described. For the first time the document is presented – the full text of IG. Starinov’s letter on the fact of the appearance of the «atomic notebook».
